# Jan 30 2024 tests
## Tests

All tests performed with [`foxsi-4matter-v0.1.0`](https://github.com/foxsi/foxsi-4matter/releases/tag/v0.1.0).

### `run1`

- No radioactive source used.

#### Folder structure

- `run1/`
    - `catch.log` - contains raw Timepix data [38 B] appended to downlink packet header [8 B], as binary formatted as ASCII, with leading timestamp in brackets `[]`.
    - `catch_no_header.log` - same data as `catch.log`, but with downlink packet header omitted.
    - `formatter_terminal.txt` - contains stdout from formatter.

#### Outcomes
- Logger was st arted *after* Formatter readout, so contains a subset of all downlinked packets.
- From Formatter, observe **22 complete** (rates, software status, and housekeeping) data packets received from Timepix and **8 incomplete** packets (rates, software status, but no housekeeping) packets received.
- All housekeeping packets from Timepix are identical. So suspect housekeeping data collection may not have been started correclty. Followup with Milo and team.

### `run2`

- No radioactive source used.

- Milo has raw data (`.pcap`s etc) recorded locally inside Timepix.

#### Folder structure

- `run2/`
    - `30-1-2024_11/28/23/`
        - `catch.log` - contains Timepix data, HV command sent during this file. Log byte shift issue apparent in lines 1-7 and 9 of the file. 
        - other files - should be empty except `housekeeping_*.log`, which hold global housekeeping data.
    - `30-1-2024_11/41/1`
        - `catch.log`
        - other files - should be empty except `housekeeping_*.log`, which hold global housekeeping data.
    - `30-1-2024_11/45/31`
        - `catch.log`
        - other files - should be empty except `housekeeping_*.log`, which hold global housekeeping data.
    - `formatter_terminal.txt` - contains stdout from formatter.
    - `gse_terminal.txt` - contains stdout from GSE from uplink command/logging (not sure which time running).

#### Outcomes

- Successful application of bias voltage to Timepix via uplink command.
- Turned off Timepix while Formatter was running, then back on, and kept getting data. Formatter handles this interruption.
- GSE logger (new) stopped recording, and uplink command stopped working partway through test (see `run2/30-1-2024_11:28:23/catch.log`). Restarted GSE logger (`GSECommand()`) and things continued without issue (logging and uplink). 
    - Thanasi will need to investigate. 
    - When unable to command, GSE still printed out the sending command.
- Data received on ground from Timepix is all identical. No change in rates value or housekeeping.
- Some packets in the GSE new logger are shifted by a number of bytes to the left. Haven't seen this before, think it is an issue with the `catch.log` implementation. Thanasi needs to check.

### `run3`

- No radioactive source used.
- Prior to this test, turned on both CMOSes and tried to ping. CMOS 1 didn't respond, shut it off.

#### Folder structure

- `run3/`
    - `30-1-2024_17/59/40/` - contains GSE logs, no CMOS data
    - `30-1-2024_18/4/59/` - contains GSE logs, no CMOS data
    - `cmos2_terminal.txt` - contains evidence from `df` command before and after `delete_all_data` command was sent. No change.
    - `formatter_terminal.txt` - contains stdout of formatter.
    - `formatter_terminal_send.txt` - contains section of stdout showing formatter command verification bug.

#### Outcomes

- Clear command appears to be sent by formatter, but has no effect on CMOS 2.
- After test, Shimizu san noticed that CMOS `control`, `rmap_slave`, etc software were not running.

### `run4`

- No radioactive source used.
- CMOS 2 rebooted between `run3` and `run4`. Saw background tasks `control`, `rmap_slave`, etc running on boot.

#### Folder structure

- `run4/`
    - `cmos2_terminal.txt` - contains evidence from CMOS 2 `df` command and checks on `control`, `rmap_slave`, etc operation.
    - `formatter_terminal_error.txt` - contains section of stdout from formatter showing error after `delete` command sent to CMOS 2.

#### Outcomes

- Appears that CMOS software crashes when `delete_all_data` command received from Formatter.
- Thanasi will need to fix Formatter exception that occurs when CMOS software exits.

### `run5`

- Am-241 and Fe-55 used during test, waved in front of Timepix.
- Timepix tested with the sources.
- Timepix turned off for a while before this test.

        - `catch.log` - contains raw data from Timepix, formatted as ASCII, including downlink header and timestamp.
        - other files - should be empty except `housekeeping_*.log`, which hold global housekeeping data.
    - `30-1-2024_18/56/51/` - contains data taken after uplink command to ramp Timepix bias was sent.
        - `catch.log` - contains raw data from Timepix, formatted as ASCII, including downlink header and timestamp.
        - other files - should be empty except `housekeeping_*.log`, which hold global housekeeping data.
    - `formatter_terminal.txt` - contains stdout from Formatter.

#### Outcomes

- Not sure what time each source inserted. Milo may know.
- Raw data (`pcap`s) from Timepix were collected by Milo.
- Data sent to Formatter from Timepix are always identical.

### `run6`

- Starting formatter 7:52 pm.
- Expecting to use DE.
- No radioactive source used.

- Manually resent `init`, then `standby`, then `obs` to DE. On last command, saw `f4` status change to `3`, and Formatter segfault.

- Resent init sequence with uplink, then stopped, then init sequence again.

- Trying to restart software once, see error, start a second time right after.

## `run11` to `run22`

- DE starts working after sparse register file revert.
- Take source data.
- `jan30/CdTeDE_COUT_Log_run11_to_run22.log` contains whole `cout` log from CdTE DE for the tests `run11` through `run22`.
- `jan30/CdTeDE_COUT_Log_run11_to_run22.log` contains whole formatter stdout for the tests `run11` through `run22`.

        - `cdte3.log` - contains raw frames for CdTe in position 4.
        - `cdte4.log` - contains raw frames for CdTe in position 2.
    - `Screenshot 2024-01-31 at 1.26.20 AM` - contains screenshot of pedestals in sparse mode.

### `run12`

- Full readout mode pedestal, roughly 15 minutes integration, biased 200 V (and waited 5 minutes).
- DE data file is roughly half pedestal, half Am-241.
- Am-241 source placed in front of position 2.
- Nitrogen flowing 1/4 turn open.

- Waited more than 30 s. Saw biasing command come out on Formatter tape.
- Sent HV ramp to 200 V at 9:38 pm. Waited 5 more minutes.

    - `de/` - contains raw data recorded locally in the DE. Source was moved **during** `*_16373*` files, and was **moved again** (for `run16`) about 15 MB into the `*_16455*` files.
        - `*det1*` - contains raw frames for CdTe in position 5.
